Zombieland movie review:
Rule #1: Write a good story based on characters!
Every story should be based on charming and interesting characters. For the perfect recipe, just include a killing zombie machine with a cowboy hat and a big appetite for twinkies, a nerd who already thinks that people are zombies and two smart sisters who are still alive because of their twisted creativity!
Together, they will try to overcome a deadly virus that as virtually transformed everyone into vicious zombies!
Rule #2: Mix comedy, horror and drama efficiently!
Second rule is simple! Don't try to create a comedy, don't try to make the most horrific movie of all time and don't do a drama! Just mix all genres together in order to create the perfect mix!
Creating nice sequences that are alternating between comedy and horror (and drama) will help you keep your audience entertained and happy!
Rule #3: Make sure that the movie works on several levels!
Some people are enjoying comedy. Others prefer scary movies. Finally, some people won't look at a movie if there is no messages, no meaning to the entire movie.
Then, why not include all of these elements into your feature to make sure that it's working on several levels!
Rule #4: Gather the perfect cast!
Before filming your movie, make sure that you have gathered the perfect cast! Your bad-ass character can be played by the star of "Natural Born Killers" while the nerd can be interpreted by someone who actually looks like one! Of course, the gifted sisters can be played by... gifted actresses!
While you are at it, why not include Bill Murray and make him die in honorable circumstances!
Rule #5: Create a killer intro!
Once everything is set, it's time to start the movie with a killer introduction! Nothing can be more effective than zombies being thorn apart in slow motion while a Metallica's song (For whom the bell tolls) is playing in the background.
Oh! Don't forget to display of couple of your rules to make sure that the viewer will understand how a nerd could survive for two months surrounded by zombies all by himself!
Rule #6: Make things believable even if it's impossible!
Creating a zombie movie that is credible can be a little tricky. No one really knows how survivors would react in such a scenario! So why not go a couple of steps ahead and make sure that your character's motivation and action are believable and genuine!
Rule #7: Enjoy the little things!
Pay attention to details. Create great one liners! It's the little things that make a movie enjoyable or not!
Rule #8: Don't be afraid to break your own rules!
Finally, even after setting up so many rules, don't be afraid to break one or two of them! You've been disciplined so far, so don't be afraid to treat yourself a little! After all, you've just created one hell of a movie!
