Slither movie review:
If you enjoy B movies and film from the 80s, then chances are that you will also enjoy "Slither"! It does offer a nice mix between drama, humor, gore and action!
The plot is simple: a meteorite is landing in a small town with creepy stuff inside of it. One of the local is infected by it, leading to a massive infection which turns people into zombies and monsters!
The cast of the movie is great! Nathan Fillion (mostly known for playing in the "Firefly" TV series and the movie "Serenity") does a very good job portraying a funny character caught in a scary situation!
Elizabeth Banks ("Zack and Miri Make a Porno" and "The 40 Year Old Virgin") is also perfect in the role of a high school biology teacher who must saved her husband from annihilating the planet!
Gore and monster lovers will be served with nice, bloody scenes mixing old-time special effects with modern CGI creatures!
Horror fans will enjoy the multiple references James Gunn is displaying throughout the entire movie! Fortunately, these references are not too distracting and they do add a little something to the movie!
The pace of the movie is perfect and it's nice to see a movie with some interesting surprises (not only fun, but also thrilling or terrifying!).
Of course, if you really hate leeches or any other similar creatures, then you might not enjoy this one as much as I did!
However, isn't it the purpose of a horror movie? To be scary, disgusting (funny?) and loaded with frightening creatures?
This movie is not perfect! A little more creativity from the director would've been nice. Also, the ending might seem like "too much" at some point!
Slither is nice homage to B movies and low budget horror films that is fun and very entertaining to watch!
