Planet terror movie review:

It's not a secret anymore that Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino are big fan of each other's work and that they really enjoy working with each other. This fascinating collaboration had its turning point with the release of the "Grindhouse", a double feature made of "Death Proof" (Tarantino) and "Planet Terror" (Rodriguez).

"Grindhouse" is an homage to exploitation B-movie thrillers (or low-budget campy exploitation films if you prefer!) featuring plenty of gory scenes, simulation of scratches and dust on the film and bad acting (in a good way). Yes, the goal is achieved and you really film like you are watching a very polished (and luxury version) of a B-movie.

The plot is not really important in this one (yes, it does feature zombies, bio-nerve gas, people trying to survive and Bruce Willis). Although the script is relatively simple and fun, you don't watch "Planet Terror" to solve puzzles or start thinking about your own purpose in life.

Instead, you simply expect to see good action, plenty of gory scenes and a chick with a gun replacing her right leg (how cool is that!). If you hate B-movies, then chances are that you'll hate this one too!

Of course, being a double feature, it's hard not to compare both "Death Proof" and "Planet Terror" in order to declare a winner! In my case, it is quite easy to do: Tarantino's movie is loaded with dialogues (sometimes good, often bad) while Rodriguez's film is pure entertainment!

If you had the chance to see the "Grindhouse" version, you also probably noticed a fake movie trailer involving a character named "Machete" (Danny Trejo). The good news is that Robert Rodriguez took this fake trailer and turned it into a real movie!

With a cast featuring many fun names (Danny Trejo, Michelle Rodriguez, Jessica Alba, Robert De Niro, Lindsay Lohan, Cheech Marin, an overweight Steven Seagal, Don Johnson, Rose McGowan and a cameo by Tom Savini) this is exciting news if you really enjoyed "Planet Terror"!

This film is the perfect average B-movie made with a first-class budget that will keep you entertain and satisfied for a good hour and a half or so!
