Misery movie review:

Paul Sheldon is a best-selling novelist who is travelling in Colorado after finishing is latest book. On a snowy day, he crashes his car and is rescued by Annie Wilkes, a woman who claims to be the number fan of Sheldon's heroine, Misery Chastaine.

While Paul is taken to her home in a bad condition, the woman begins to take care of her unexpected host. When she finally has a chance to read the latest achievement of her favorite author, Annie realizes the unthinkable: Misery is killed by Sheldon!

Extremely unhappy with this discovery, Annie will do anything (and I mean anything) to change the mind of Paul regarding the faith of her favorite character. The poor author will then face the horrible fact that he's now at the mercy of an insane fan in the middle of nowhere.

"Misery" is a slow movie involving two great actors, a fascinating scenario and plenty of chills for the viewer to enjoy! It's a difficult challenge to make a movie with only two main actors and a house as the main (and almost only) set.

Rob Reiner is able to create a chilling atmosphere and build a growing tension throughout the movie that is genuine and fascinating. The viewer is facing the unexpected most of the time and no event is useless or irrelevant.

James Caan and Kathy Bates are giving the performances of their lives! Caan is perfect as the poor author who doesn't know how to handle an unstable and crazy groupie who wants to have a word over the creation of her favorite author.

However, Bates is the one who is carrying this movie from start to the end. Yes, she did win an Oscar for this and it was well-deserved!

Bates is displaying a wide variety of emotions, creating a fascinating character that can be crazy in one sequence or completely helpless in the next one! The success of this movie is relying on her shoulders and she gets the job done wonderfully!

If you are a huge celebrity and have to deal with many fans, then maybe you won't enjoy "Misery" as much as we do!
