Jaws review:

Amity island. A shark. Swimmers. Terror. That's basically the entire scenario of the movie "Jaws" by Steven Spielberg! Not much to say except that even if the scenario is terribly thin, the movie is terribly effective and good!

It might not be the best or even the first Spielberg movie, but this is the one that put the famous director on the map for good! It's also the first movie to define the word "Blockbuster" movie to a larger audience!

Ghost are scary. Aliens from another planet too! However, there is nothing scarier than something that you can actually see and feel for real! A shark is real, so are the numerous teeth in its mouth!

Even if this movie doesn't use CGI effects mainly because Bill Gates and friends were still nerds playing with toys back in 1975, the mechanical shark in this film is pretty well-designed.

Steven Spielberg being who he is (a good director!), he was able to shoot this real life monster in such a way that even by today's standard, the movie is quite impressive and scary at times!

The cast of the movie is great although more female characters would've been nice. Roy Scheider is great in the leading role while Richard Dreyfuss is also doing a good job in a role that was proposed to him a few years before is addiction to drugs was made public.

Who doesn't know the now famous music announcing the arrival of the giant sea predator? Well, the rest of the score is also pretty good and well-used in this movie!

The pace is a little slow with many dialogues, but most of them are relevant and interesting. Don't expect to see an action movie loaded with explosions and gore sequences though.

"Jaws" is an instant classic with a great score that delivers terror, chills and thrills even 35 years after it was originally released!
