Monsters in horror films
In this part of the website, I will tell you a little bit more about monsters in horror films. I will also review some of the most terrifying horror movies, whether they involve monsters or not!
However, be warned that these reviews are not intended for people who did not see the movies.
Many spoilers are available in these pages! My goal is to describe the monsters and events depicted in those movies! These are not conventional movie critics!
So if you enjoy monsters and horror movies, just choose the film of your choice below and enjoy!
Alien: The best monster ever. Period.
Alien was the first blockbuster to really show the audience the true meaning of fear. And the monster was perhaps the most popular one in the history of cinema!
Anaconda: Big snakes, small movie!
If you really enjoy snakes, then maybe you'll have fun with this one. For the others, please pick up something else!
An American werewolf in London: A classic.
Yes, even after all these years, I can honestly say that no other werewolf movies are as effective as this one!
A Nightmare on Elm Street: Stay awake to stay alive!
If you want to watch just one movie involving Freddy Krueger, go with the first one! Otherwise, you might want to forget about all sequels!
Basket case: What's in the basket?
If you enjoy amateur horror movies from the 80s with terrible special effects, then this one is definitely a must see for you!
The Blob: Evil jelly set in the 50s!
If you want to watch a fun movie from the 50s, then "The Blob" might be exactly what you are looking for! If you hate such movie, stay away from it!
District 9: Racism and alien monsters!
A good movie can be entertaining. A good movie can be exciting and filled with action. A good movie can also send a strong political message without being too annoying or preachy!
Doom: Onscreen video game!
Once again, a good proof that video games don't necessarily make a good movie, even if the concept is interesting or creative!
Feast: Gore lovers only!
Overall, feast is a nice gory movie with cool monsters that should entertain you for 90 minutes or so!
The Fly: How to play God!
"The Fly" is a cool movie featuring a strong performance by Jeff Goldblum, a dark atmosphere and a few magical scenes that are still effective today.
Ginger Snaps: Teenage werewolf!
If you feel like watching a good teenage movie with sociological themes and a touch of horror, then this one is definitely for you.
Gremlins: Don't feed it after midnight!
Gremlins is a nice curiosity from the 80s that won't be a memorable experience, but maybe a fun one if you are not familiar with family movies from this decade.
The Host: Monsters from South Korea!
If you are getting tired watching big Hollywood movies and want something original and fresh, you might want to try "The host".
The Howling: Average werewolf movie!
Some movies are pretty fun to look at (even when they are bad) because they are unintentionally funny. It's not the case for "The howling" movie and its (numerous) sequels.
In the Mouth of Madness: It's a crazy world!
This movie might be interesting if you enjoy H.P. Lovecraft or Carpenter's work, but otherwise, you won't miss anything good if you pass on this one.
Jeepers Creepers: Empty and boring!
Do yourself a favor! Stay away from this one and watch jackass movies instead (just to get your brain going a little!)
Jurassic Park: CGI revolution!
If you haven't seen this movie yet, don't hesitate to do so! It's nice to see the turning point of CGI animation taking place in front of our eyes!
The mist: A good (sociological) horror movie!
Finally a movie that doesn't think that the viewers are all idiots! If you want to be entertained and see some real characters reacting like real humans, then this movie is definitely for you!
Piranha (1978): Fun movie from the 70s!
If you really enjoy movies from the 70s, then you will have a blast with it. Otherwise, you might pass on this one!
Slither: Nice homage to the 80s!
Slither is nice homage to B movies and low budget horror films that is fun and very entertaining to watch!
The thing: Nice classic with lots of gore!
This movie isn't necessarily loaded with gore and action, but the monster scenes are well-done (for the time, of course).
War of the Worlds: It's the end of the world! Again!
If you don't enjoy alien invasions or movies about the end of our world, you may pass on this one. Otherwise, it is a nice movie that you should entertain you for two hours or so.
