From dusk till dawn movie review:
"From dusk till dawn" is simply a good road movie that ends in a splash of blood! Loaded with talented actors (Harvey Keitel, Georges Clooney, Quentin Tarantino, Juliette Lewis, Salma Hayek, Cheech Marin, Kelly Preston and Danny Trejo) this movie doesn't really have a strong storyline, but it doesn't matter since it's really a fun ride to take!
Two fugitives are taking three hostages on a wild ride through the desert, only to end up in a Mexican bar loaded with blood-thirsty vampires!
This movie can be split in two: A typical road movie taking place in Texas followed by a bloody horror movie set in a small bar in Mexico.
But be warned! The second half is extremely gory at times with heads and arms flying around all over the place. A little nudity can also be expected, but nothing too explicit.
The movie is also loaded with funny or absurd dialogues... some absurd lines like:
Lewis: Where are you taking us?
Tarantino: Mexico!
Lewis: What's in Mexico?
Tarantino: Mexicans!
Or some funny lines like:
Hayek: Welcome to slavery (while she's about to turn Clooney into a vampire)!
Clooney: No thanks! I already had a wife!
Cheech Marin is playing a couple of characters in this one while Tom Savini (M. special effects himself) is playing a character named "Sex Machine" (and he does have a nice gun!).
It's nice to see Savini sliced vampire in pieces only to see him turn into one later on!
As for Tarantino, he also does a great job playing Richard Gecko, a serial killer and serial raper who can't control himself from abusing women and shooting people.
Robert Rodriguez does an honest job directing this movie, but I must admit that there is nothing that's innovative or original in "From dusk till dawn".
So if you are looking for a fun ride loaded with weird characters and vampires, then this one is definitely for you!
