An American werewolf in London review:

I don't remember exactly when it was (probably somewhere in the mid 80s). But I do remember how it happened clearly.

At the time, I didn't have cable at home. But somehow, I did manage to play with my TV buttons to catch a signal in black and white.

A very poor and grainy black and white version. Back in the 80s, where I lived, it was possible to have free cable. But like I said, the quality was really poor!

Anyway, I knew that one of the most intense horror movie of the time was on. And I really wanted to see it.

I don't know if it's because the image was grainy and horrible, but I remember being scare to death by John Landis's masterpiece about werewolves!

Two american travellers are attacked by a mysterious beast in England.

One of them manage to survive... only to discover that he has been contaminated and condemned to turn into a werewolf every night the moon is full.

Unlike the first "Howling" movie that was released the same year, "An American werewolf in London" is a beautiful and very effective horror movie!

This thriller is loaded with classic scenes. From the ones with his imaginary friend from the grave to the spectacular transformation into a werewolf, the movie is absolutely gorgeous to look at.

Landis managed to create a plot that is brilliant and fascinating.

Some scenes are shocking (one nightmare in particular where the main character's family is killed by zombies with guns!) and well-done for the time.

You also have a couple of nudity scenes, so it might not be suitable for everyone (it was rated 17 at the time).

The movie is even pretty funny at times, but this doesn't brake the tension or make the movie ridiculous to look at.

And even after all these years, I can honestly say that no other werewolf movies are as effective as this one!

A great classic horror film that will never be outdated, simply because the cast is great and that John Landis managed to put all the pieces together wonderfully.

A must if you love werewolves!
